    What We Think

    Fun factor:
    Durability:
    Ease of assembly:
    Educational factor:
    Novelty factor:

The Good: Spy headset with video monitor and earbud let kids see and hear around corners and under furniture.

The Challenging: The video can be difficult to see clearly; driving the vehicle takes some practice.

In a Nutshell: A clever, high-tech toy that kids will enjoy with its ability to let them see and hear in hidden places.

    Sturdy Plastic with Streamlined Design
Made of durable plastic, the ATV is big enough to stand up to rough play, yet small enough to store away easily when playtime is over. With only three major parts -- the ATV, headset, and remote control -- it's straightforward for such a sophisticated toy. Younger children might need help adjusting the headset for optimum viewing of the video feed. Also, parents will need to use a screwdriver to install and replace the 12 "AA" batteries (not included).

    Hours of spying fun
The ATV looks rugged and tough, with its heavy black tread and thin antennae. A video camera mounted to the front transmits a video feed to a monitor in the headset while a sound sensor on the top of the ATV sends audio through an earbud. Children can drive the ATV around corners and under furniture, while simultaneously seeing and hearing what the vehicle does. Its big tires lets it climb easily over obstacles -- like dirty laundry.

The video and audio worked flawlessly when we tested them, although we found the video a little hard to see. It took a little trial and error to figure out how to get the vehicle to go where we wished, but we think kids who have experience driving remote control cars will pick it up quickly. With a little practice, kids will be proficient with this entertaining toy.

    What's in the Box
ATV vehicle with video camera and sound sensor; remote control; earbud; headset with adjustable monitor and video screen; and instructions.

The Spy Video ATV allows kids to "spy" using a miniature, remote-controlled vehicle.

The ATV is rugged in construction and can take on any terrain.

The earbud and eyepiece allow you to observe the ATV's video feed remotely.

     Spy Gear - Feb 05, 2010

I had reservations about purchasing this when my son intially brought it up...how often have you seen these type toys fail to deliver on how they are advertised to perform? Not the case here! The camera actually works, the remote control function performs at an acceptable distance, and around walls and corners. My son loves it!

     Fun toy - Jan 30, 2010

My 9yo son had asked for this ATV for months and months and I finally found a great deal on Amazon because I could not afford the original asking price nor the price at the local "Mart" store. Amazon had an awesome Black Friday deal and I purchased it hoping my son wouldn't be disappointed with the quality. He loves playing with it and drives it all over the house checking-out what is going on! It moves well over all "terrains" of the house (hard wood, carpet, linoleum) and responds well to the control buttons. The 360 degree scan button makes the ATV do a complete circle to view the room quickly and both of my sons love that feature. When I asked him if there was anything he'd make better about the toy, he said he would change the view finder from black and white to color, but that is not a reason that either one of us would return the toy. I'm happy because he likes it and I got a great deal. The only other down-side is that it takes 12 batteries, but we use rechargeables, so that isn't a huge problem for me, but may be for some. We have only had it for one month, so I cannot accurately reply to the question of durability, but so far, so good. All in all, a fun toy.

     Fun toy! - Jan 30, 2010

The seller had great service and the toy was recieved very quickly. Upon opening though, there was unusual "knocking" sounds coming from inside the toy. Looks like the toy was damaged, but since it was a christmas present and I really couldn't send it back since my kid wanted to play with it, I was able to fix myself instead of send back.

     nice but...... - Jan 30, 2010

my son loves it. but it could be better. video is ok but its low quality black and white. the toy is made for indoors. video is not good outdoors. and u cant drive thru water. what kind of tank cant drive thru water lol.make sure its turned off when not in use to save battery life.

     ATV360 spy toy - Jan 17, 2010

I purchased this toy for my 8 1/2 year old grandson for Christmas.
He liked it initially but lost interest as the sound pick up did not work
at all. It was just static, and the visual aspect was not very clear.
It appears to be just a very expensive manually controlled battery car.
If I had known this I would not have spent almost $250.00 with tax
and shipping and would not recommend this toy. It is worth about $60.00.

     Don't do it - Jan 11, 2010

I bought this for my son for Christmas after he saw the comercial and had to have it. The camera is stationary so you cant see anything very well. It takes 12 aa batteries and they go quick. My son played with this for 2 days before the view finder stopped working. If my wife didn't throw the box away this would have been returned. $[...] down the drain and lesson learned.

     Spy Gear Fun - Jan 11, 2010

Given to my grandson. He drove it all over the house on Christmas eve for about two hours. He told me later that his dog loved it (!?) The only disadvantage is that it takes 12 AA batteries to run it - otherwise it is an awful lot of fun.

pricey but not at amazon - Jan 11, 2010

I think this toy is too expensive but it's cool. My little brother is 8 and this is all he talked about before Christmas. I went to Target they wanted [...] I checked out walmart it was[...] I went to amazon online and bought it for [...] plus free shipping and the happiness of my little bro, priceless. f.y.i Getting it out of the box took like 30 minutes it's screwed on to the box and some of them were stripped or broken. My Dad and uncle worked on this.

Works well, was a big hit with my nephew! - Jan 07, 2010

At Christmas, my nephew immediately put this product together, and he and his sister took turns. It does take a lot of batteries, but what good toy doesn't? I was very happy with it.

More of a hit than i thought it would be - Jan 07, 2010

I tried to talk my 7 yo out of asking for this for xmas and then saw it for a better price and bought it. It ended up being a hit for all 3 boys ages 5 1/2-8 years old. They were upstairs hiding out and navigating the tank. They were driving around the dining room table around the feet of all the grown-ups. I was amazed it would work so well from that distance. It was more fun than, but a similar experience to, walkie-talkies. AND, it still works!

     A fun toy - Jan 07, 2010

My son got this from Santa and loves it. All of us enjoy using it. We only wish the camera angle could be raised or lowered by remote control since you need to look up to see people, and look down to see where you are going. I still recommend it.

This is the best Christmas ever - Jan 01, 2010

He said this was the best Christmas ever due to this toy he received as a christmas present

Uses lots of batteries - Jan 01, 2010

The kids love this and it has worked well, but it uses 12 AAA batteries. Best to buy some re-chargeable batteries and a charger if you plan to use it much.

     Great buy at Amazon's price - Dec 30, 2009

My son really wanted this for Christmas and out of all the toys he received, he played with this the most. He loves it! It's really age appropriate for age 8 and up. It's durable and worth it for the price paid on Amazon. I would recommend. The only draw back, if one - is that the video feed is in black and white and not color. Also, the audio feed only works when the tank isn't moving...but I think that's reasonable. However, my son doesn't seem to mind the two points above. The tank when it moves does look really cool.

     ATV-360 - Dec 30, 2009

Bought this for my son for Christmas. He absolutely loves it. He used up 3 sets of batteries on Christmas day, and bought rechargable batteries the next day, definitely worth the cost of rechargable batteries. He particularly enjoys driving the ATV-360 from another room using the video feed.

     Christmas Joy! - Dec 30, 2009

My son was thrilled to get this toy on Christmas morning! It met all my expectations and was exactly as described on this website and in the company promotions. I would definitely buy another one.

The hit this Christmas! - Dec 30, 2009

Gave this to my 11 year old nephew for Christmas and he has not stopped playing with it! Video is not the best, but it is still a pretty cool toy. This was by far his most favorite present this year!

     LOVE this - Dec 29, 2009

This was the BIG thing on my 12 year old son's wish list this Christmas. He absolutely LOVES it (as does his 10 year old brother). We haven't found it to "eat" batteries, still using the dollar store batteries we put in it 5 days ago. The camera quality is about the same as a old black & white convenience store surveillance camera, but that works fine for us. It's too loud to really "spy" with, but after a few minutes, the "victim" forgets it's there and the real spying begins.

We have wooden, un-carpeted stairs and unfortunately, someone dropped it about 1/2 down the first day, but no problem, everything works just fine.

    So:

    *durable
*fun (does what it's advertised to do)
*the controller can be hooked up to at TV so you can watch the live action on a the big screen
*takes a LOT of AA batteries, but they last more than a few hours, so that's ok. Buying rechargables might be something to consider
*has a sturdy handle for carrying

If you're looking for a fun toy for an older child, this is something to consider.

Kid Loves it! Whole family was impressed - Dec 29, 2009

My son got this for christmas. He is tickled...9 years old and shows it off to anyone who is willing to watch. The whole family was impressed by the clarity and sound of this "toy!" Even the dogs had fun chasing it around since it is quite, and not scary.

     Everyone Loved it - Dec 28, 2009

We bought this for our 10 yr old grandson. His Father & Uncle got to playing with it & we had to make them give it back to Taylor. Then we went to my Mom's house on Christmas Day & we laugh at the other boys (ages ranging from 16 to 29) playing with it. My nephew (20 yrs old) has decided that he needs one. I had looked at this item many time in the store but did not want to pay that much fro it ($99.99) but Amazon had it for $40.00 less than [...].
It was a BIG hit at our house.

     Mom of 3 - Dec 28, 2009

My 8 year old received it for Christmas and absolutely loves it. She has used it every day since then. Lots of fun....

     Very cool toy - Dec 28, 2009

We got this for our 8 year old son for Christmas and it is a hit. It works well, can be controlled from quite a distance away (another room in the house for good spying) and is sturdy. He plays with it a lot. The only drawback is that you cannot control the camera remotely, but he doesn't really seem to care about that. He can see enought of what he wants to by turning/moving the tank.

     A Major Hit - Dec 28, 2009

Got this for my 9 year-old son for Christmas. It was an enormous success. He has played and played with it, and it hasn't seemed to lose its allure. He has said things like "Best present I've ever gotten"... so if your child has aims to be a secret agent, this is the toy for him.

     Fun toy! A little overpriced.... - Dec 28, 2009

We got this toy for Christmas, and my son has been playing with it nonstop-even dad has gotten in on the action! My only complaints about it are that you can't hear anything while the toy is moving, and the picture quality is not so great, just a grainy black-and- white. Despite these issues, this toy is a lot of fun. I think it is over priced at close to $100 we only got it because we found a good sale and picked it up for $60-which I think is a fair price.

     buy rechargeable batteries - Dec 28, 2009

my 8 year old son loved it. easy to maneuver and video is surprisingly clear for a toy. It uses 12 aa batteries though and starts to slow down after a couple hours of use. Really cool toy!!!
