Description
With this awesome, air-powered dart blaster, a “long shot” is a good thing! Measuring three feet long, this blaster is the longest NERF blaster yet and fires up to 35 feet. Attach the barrel extension for long-range targeting and use the tactical rails and flip-up sight to help you zero-in on targets near and far. Even when your target is on the move, you never have to worry about ammo, since your blaster can store two quick-reload clips! (One clip is included.) So grab your gear, steel your nerves and prepare to “go long”! Ages 6 and up.

long shot killer - Aug 10, 2010
this thing is of the chain it has a 25f shooting range and the holder can hold 8 bullets. its also cool to use a a pretend grenade launcher by clipping the tip of. over all its a good toy but i should have a granade launcher accesory with but thats my opinion. i would get it if i were you!!
Looks can be deceiving - Jul 28, 2010
As it says in the title looks can be deceiving this gun looks wicked awesome and felt awesome! but fired like the weakest nerf gun ever
Boys love it! - Jul 25, 2010
The kids love Nerf gun and this is a nice addition to the collection. My son got it for his B-day and loved it!
Looks cool, but if you want range and accuracy buy a longshot - Jun 29, 2010
It looks cool, and i used the barrel with a recon and a longshot and they look cool too. Cool doesn't matter though if it sucks. The reverse plunger has a short range, and the long barrel just ads more friction. My son took out the air restrictor and put in an internal powerstock, but the range still was poor. Finally he bought copper pipe and replaced the bolt and barrel, making it airtight. with all these mods it still gets 40-50 feet on average. Should of bought him another longshot.
Definitely overhyped. - Jun 27, 2010
I got the nerf longstrike from target a couple days after it came out. i was so pumped to open it, and when i did, it looked awesome, very closely resembling the intervention from call of duty. Looks are everything, right? WRONG. I took out the ONLY clip in the package, along with the ONLY six darts it came with, and took a few test shots. None made it over fifteen feet. All of the shots were inconsistant, some falling out the barrel, and some rocketing off. As i dissembled it for return, i found out that you couldnt remove the butt stock or the cocking mechanism, making it impossible to fit back in the box. After jamming it in there, i returned it successfully and got my money back, opting for an ammo box of 100 streamline darts instead.
Basically, dont waste your money.
Good looks but lacking performance - Jun 18, 2010
I own several Nerf guns, and I've heard a fair share about the ones I don't own from friends. Before buying this one, I asked those friends about it and did some research on the web. The resounding response was that it by far one of the sexiest Nerf guns to date, but it performs TERRIBLY (due to the reverse plunger system). I was naive and told myself that they must've gotten lemon models and bought it anyway. 35 bucks wasted. This gun's range is about 30 feet if you angle in up at 45 degrees, and half that if you fire flat. That's horrendous. Why model a Nerf gun after a sniper rifle if it's going ot have less range than a Nerf Nitefinder (a tiny sidearm, for non-Nerfies)? Not to mention, the included barrel extension that earns the Longstrike the title of "Longest Nerf Gun" further decreases its range due to the extra friction on the dart.
The iron sights for this gun are also apalling. The rear sight is a large circle with a tiny hole that the user is supposed to align with a narrow slit on the front end of the gun, or the front sight of the sight block itself. Not that it matters which one you choose to aim with -- the hole's too small ot see through, and the dart will most likely veer left or right anyway. Completely useless.
It saddens me to see the shift from direct-plunger systems to reverse-plungers by Nerf, and I hope that they realize that it kills the entertainment factor of their products.
For the sake of structure, I'll throw in the obligatory Pros/Cons list
Pros:
- Looks amazing
- Textured digital camo pattern
- Modular, interchangeable parts with other Nerf CS-6 products
- Holds two magazines in the stock
- Stands up fairly well to punishment
Cons:
- Abysmal range (30 feet tops, 15 flat)
- Included barrel extension will reduce range even more (if it fired any closer it'd be firing backwards)
- Reverse plunger system
- Useless iron sights
All in all, save your money. I ended up buying a Recon that shot much further, but I would still recommend getting a Longshot instead. More opportunity to mod, direct plunger system, almost perfect. Skip this jazzed-up garbage heap.
Great Gun! - Jun 15, 2010
Overall, its a really good gun. It's far lighter and sleeker then the longshot. It starts jamming after about two hours which I can help with. When you cock it back, open the jam door and push the dart back about two centimeters. If you do this every time you cock it, you wont run into any problems.
Nerf N-Strike Longstrike CS-6 Dart Blaster - May 02, 2010
As with all the previous Nerf products we have purchased for our grandson, this one pleased him to the max. He especially likes that he can interchange the parts with his other blasters to create his own version of the N-Strike. Although he will have outgrown the Nerf products by Christmas, they will remain a happy part of his childhood. He may store and give them to his own children one day. Also, each Nerf product through the years has served some educational purposes, such as organizational and social skills (storing the "bullets" so as to have them readily available later, designing new versions of each product and learning the proper use of tools in the process, target practice - he is now a Scout with awards in target shooting and bow and arrow - and sharing the items while enjoying playtime with friends and siblings).
Great toy. - Apr 16, 2010
Aesthetically pleasing. I haven't had a misfire yet. However, the range is not what it could be. The barrel actually lowers the range by quite a bit. Fun action though and as I said, pretty to look at.
Big kids like nerf too - Apr 15, 2010
Last November, I bought a bunch of Nerf Mavericks for a friends 21st birthday, between Nerf hide-and-go-seek and Nerf roulette it was a huge success. Since then we have had spontaneous Nerf wars break out, and many of us have gotten other Nerf guns and the fun has continued. As a result I have tested every nerf gun available, this is by far my favorite (especially when coupled with the Clip from the Nerf N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 Dart Blaster - Blue). It's bigger and heavier, so it might not be the best choice for smaller kids, as for bigger kids I highly recommend it. Very accurate (with or without the extra barrel) and I don't have any problems with jamming... Be sure to buy more clips and more darts and have fun! Nerf Bandolier Dart Kit or Nerf N-Strike Flip Clip Dart Refill
pretty good but...a little overrated - Apr 05, 2010
I bout this gun @ Target.i got it and it waz relly 3 ft long.the sites r relly good, especially if you buy a scope.although this gun l00ks great 35 ft is relly overated.it only shoots about 13 feet.also they 0nly give u 6 darts and 0nly 1 mag.wat also sucs is u can only use streemline darts.if u buy the extra mags its good.the part of the st0k that holds the extra mag is c00l.the pricetag of 34$ is a little hi though.all in all,if u play l0ngdistence dont buy this gun, if u play medium range buy this guun.
Looks Cool, But Bad Performance - Mar 23, 2010
When I assembled the gun it looked really cool. But when I shot it, it only went 15 feet. Also, the flip-up sight doesn't even help you aim. Another bad thing is that unlike the nerf recon and raider, the Longstrike's stock isn't removable once you put it on. If you are looking for a gun that shoots far and is accurate, I suggest you get the longshot.
Very Durable and creative. - Mar 19, 2010
I received this product and as i was assembling it i accidentally put the orange thingy on wrong. READ INSTRUCTIONS you will need them. As for durability, i could feel that it was extremely comfortable when scoping through the iron sights and is extremely accurate. All in all i would buy this product for a fellow nerfer or for your son or daugther. I hope this helped you guys and have a good day.
Good but could be better. - Mar 18, 2010
I don't have it but my friend has it and I got a good look at it. The gun looks great but instead of the little scope thing they should use a longshot scope and send three mags instead of one (two for the buttstock, one for the gun). Nerf should also make the buttstock detachable like the Recon and the Raider. Without the buttstock and the barrel extension you would say it was a shotgun but with all the pieces it imediatley looks like a sniper. All-in-all I'd give it four stars.
Great fun! - Mar 18, 2010
Bought this for my son. He absolutely has a blast with it. No problems with breakage or anything like that.
worst gun ever - Mar 13, 2010
when i bought this gun i was excited. It had looks, style, everything; except that normal nerf guns can actually propel a dart more than 2 feet before plummeting to the ground.this gun cost 30.00$ and it couldn't even hit a target from point blank range. if you get this gun, take the time to modify it before assembling it.
Longstrike falls short - Mar 11, 2010
The only two things I really cared about were accuracy and range. Out of the box the range was about 15 feet. Accuracy is good up to about 12 feet. To get a range beyond 15 or so feet, I'd have to be shooting down a well. Not at all as good as they advertised it as being.
Longstrike is so much cooler than previous models - Mar 07, 2010
The Longstrike is way cooler than previous nerf models, and the added bonus is that you can store clips in the stock. It looks more like an actual rifle, and is considerably lighter than the longshot. Only complaint is that once you put the stock on, you can't take it off like with the Recon. Not really worth more than (...) dollars, but I bought it because it looked really cool and I love collecting nerf guns. It fires better without the barrel, but don't worry it still comes off. This blaster works with the raider drum, and is compatible with the nerf bandolier.
Repackaged Recon - Mar 07, 2010
Turns out that this Nerf gun has nearly the same internals as a Recon CS-6, but a higher price tag. The plunger system is the same, and it has a bolt action instead of a slide. a good gun, but you may just want a Recon instead.
Big Is Not Always Better... - Mar 06, 2010
I Have 2 Other Nerf Guns, And All i Can Say Is This Is Not As Good As a Nerf Hand Gun, This Does Not Shoot Very Far, That Was Why I Was Ordering It In The First Place, If Your Are Looking For a Good Long Shooter To Take Out The Enemy Buy a Small Nerf Gun With a Scope
Fun to have. - Mar 05, 2010
Bought this for my son cause they're in to collecting the nerf and buzz-bee foam dart guns.
Gun is cool to have, look at, carry around, and use. As far as it's shooting ability, it shoots much farther and straighter if you leave the barrel extension off. If you want to look cooler and use the extension, it helps to use something like "armor all" in the barrel to remove some of the friction between the dart and the barrel walls.
Because of the way the darts load when cocking the gun, eventually the darts become warn out and start to jam. This probably happens to any foam dart after quite a bit of use.
My son has a nerf maverick, which i think shoots very well and straight. It's as good as this longstrike without the barrel extension.
My review - Mar 05, 2010
I think this item is a really good product. It has some pretty good range. It is over three feet so it is pretty hard to carry around easily. The bad part about the gun is that some of the darts do not come out as good as they should. If you have a good batch of darts they will come out really good. The gun is compatible with most other N-strike guns like the recon CS-6. It also has room to hold two extra clips in the stock. That is good when your out of ammo in a nerf battle. It looks kind of like a real sniper too. It is single shot bolt acton gun. Over all this gun is a great product for anyone.
Just another CS-6 Longshot, pretty much - Mar 04, 2010
I had high hopes for this gun. I really, really did. It looked like it might be an upgrade to the disappointing CS-6 line, which has been a mess of poorly-ranged, expensive, but nice looking guns.
The aesthetic appeal of the Longstrike was a huge selling point for me. I really liked how, stripped down, it had a kind of sawed-off shotgun look to it. UNFORTUNATELY, once you attach the stock to the back it it, it NEVER comes off. Which...equally unfortunately...had been the first thing I did when I removed the packaging from the gun.
As for firing, though, it works about as well as my existing Longshot. In the world of Nerf toys, this puts it a peg below an $8 Maverick, but, hey, it's pretty.
Nerf's dedicated Sniper Rifle! - Mar 02, 2010
Great blaster at a great price...Amazon always seems to get these at least two weeks before our local stores. I bought the Deploy at the same place, and am very pleased!
